Dear Mr. Parthasarathy, I chanced upon your article on the late Dewan Bahadur T. Rangachariar only yesterday and I am very happy for it. Sri Rangachariar happens to be my ‘Chinna Thatha’; myself being the grandson of Late Sri. Samy Iyengar of Ombalapady who was an elder brother of Sri. Rangachariar. I have, as a young lad visited ‘Veda Vilas’ along with my father late Sri Krishnasamy Iyengar and met your parents there couple of times. I have heard a lot about Sri Rangachariar, his legal acumen, his visits to Ombalapady and his free interaction with folks over there. From my brother-in-law (who was a law college student in Sri Rangachariar’s active days) I heard of another case where Sri Rangachariar defended a junior lawyer of his who was criminally indicted in Justice Eddy’s court, lost it but prevailed on appeal to the Privy Council. I believe this case evoked a great deal of interest at that time as this was a rare (and only ?) criminal case he chose to handle. I would be delighted to hear more on this if you have any information. Again thanks a lot to you for this fine article on this Illustrious son of my paternal family from our hamlet of Ombalapady.
