Tamil — 108 Divine Names—

Late Sri P.B. Anangara Chariar Swamy, Savant of
Kanchipuram, and authority on Vaishnava Sampradayam, had composed
what he called “The 108 Divine Names” of Lord Narayana
in Tamil as a parallel to the Ashtothra NamavaLi in Sanskrit. This
has been published many years ago in his house publication, Sri
Ramanujan.

Together with this he had also composed a “Panniru thiru nAma Malai”
as an abridged Tamil parallel to the Dwadasha Nama Stotra in Sanskrit.
In it he has praised the Lord as perceived by the Azhvars.
Here is an English translation of the latter:

PANNIRU THIRUNAMA MALAI

1. PoygayAr pugazhndha punitha potri –—– -Glory be to the
flawless Divine Lord praised by Poygai Azhvar

2. Bhoodhatahaar Aethum pugazhinai potri– Glory be to the
Lord’s fame extolled bt Bhoodhatha Azhvar

3. Peyar paNindha perumaL potri —
Glory to the Great Lord worshipped by Pey Azhvar

4. Mazhisai Piran magizhndha MadhavA Potrii—Glory to
Sri Madhava who enchanted Thirumazhisai Azhvar

5. Parankusan Aethum paramanae Potri ,,Glory to the Lord
extolled by NammazhvAr

6. Kulasekaran aethum kondalae Potri– Glory to the
Sri Rama praised By Sri Kulasekhara Azhvar

7. Pattar piran aethum pavithran Potri – Glory to the
stainless Lord praised by Pattar piran

8. Kothai Malar soodum thooyai Potri Glory to the
pure Lord adorned by garland woven by AndAl

9. ThuLava thondar aethum tooyai Potri Glory to the
chaste Lord  praised by Thondar adipodi Azhvar

10. PANN perumAl aethum paramanae Potri Glory to the sacred
Lord praised by ThirupANN Azhvar

11 Mangayar Koan aethum Madhava Potri Glory to Lord
Madhava extolled by Thirumangai Azhvar

12. Madhurakavi vaNangum MAyan Potri Glory to the Mystic
Lord (Sri Rama ) worshipped by Madhura Kavi Azhvar

Glory to the great Lord praised by the Azhvars, Glory to the all-
pervasive Lord extolled by the evolved devotees And Glory to the very
breath and life of all the worlds.

A profile of Vengrai Parthasarathy (from Sahitya Akademi): Mr.V.V. Parthasarathy (Vengrai) the author is 88+ years old.He graduated from the Madras University and stayed on to complete his Law degree in the same Uiversity. Again in that University, he did a two-year course in International Law and Constitutional Law under late Professor C.H.Alexandrowicz. He had also done a course in Mass Communitations . Mr. Parthasarathy has had his professional career in the Public Relations, all of them in Public sectors like Indian Airlines, State Trading Corporation,Bharat Electronics and lastly in the Bharat Heavy Electricals, Hyderabad from which he retired. Over the years Mr. Parthasarathy has published several rticles in a variety pf Dailies and Periodicals, including The Hindu, The Statesman,The Hindustan Times, the Indian Express and The Indian Year Book Of International Affairs.Over a hundred of them have been embedded in the Vengrai.com Mr. Parthasarathy has published two books One titled THIRUPPAVAI published by the Ramakrishna Mission and a book titled SELECT HYMNS FROM THE DIVYA PRAPANTHAM published by the renowned Sahitya Akademi. He is now a retired Author who has settled down in USA with his two children, son VijayParthasarathy married to Hema, ( a Dentist) and daughter Rohini married to Partha Mandayam, a Computer Scientist, —besides grandchildren.
